Rezumat/Abstract. The paper defines, based on the definitions of icons, indexes and symbols, a conceptual framework used to look at specific case studies in order to derive the meaning of signal-constructions. Based on the analyses, the urban cultural landscape can be analyzed by looking at some landmarks that dominate it physically and based on their significance.
